Pawley’s Island is near the northern tip of the Grand Strand. This area of South Carolina dates back to the early 1600s, and is one of the most prestigious beach towns in the state. Pawley’s Island is located just South of Litchfield Beach off Highway 17. The three major sections of the town are Pawley’s Island Beaches, Pawley’s Island Mainland and Hagley Estates. From the North Causeway to the South Causeway along the coast you will find Pawley’s Island Beaches. The skyline does not includecondos like much of the Grand Strand. This section of the coast has stick built homes, and few public beach accesses. The homeowners of this beach enjoy privacy, and most of the beach goers drive down past the South Causeway to the large public area. Just West of Highway 17 and North of the South Causey is the Mainland section of Pawley’s Island. This section of Pawley’s Island has several single family home communities, some condo and townhome developments. North of the South Causeway and West of Highway 17 is the Hagley Estates section of Pawley’s Island. This section has some golf course communities, but is mostly made up tree covered homes and home sites. Most of the homes in this section enjoy the absence of Home Owner’s Association, and few restrictions only administered by the Hagley area restrictions. Pawley’s Island Real Estate: The real estate in the Pawley’s area has some of the highest price tags in the State. This area’s lifestyle is often compared to that of Hilton Head Island near Beaufort South Carolina. The area is popular to many, because it is less commercialized than Myrtle Beach, but within a 45 minute drive to just about all the entertainment of the Grand Strand. Condos are less prevalent in the Pawley’s Island area, and vacation rentals for condos are not as popular. Most vacationers have second homes and rent beach houses. There is a variety of price ranges in the Pawley’s Island area. Most of the Pawley’s Island Homes for sale start in the low 200s, but there may be a few homes in the area for less than that.
